FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here is a collection of the questions that are asked most frequently about our Scotland tour. If you have any other questions, please contact us.

Do your tours include airfare?
Our tours do not include airfare. From our experience, most people like to fly with frequent flyer points or similar programs. Many people also prefer to book the flights themselves so they can choose a favourite airline or stay longer before or after our journey. We will be happy to assist you with this if you require any help.

Do I need a visa?
If you have a Canadian or American passport you do not need a visa, unless you are planning to stay longer than three months (maybe you'll like it so much you end up staying...)

Is it possible to travel with you as a single person?
It certainly is. Just remember that a single supplement does apply and that there is a limit of three singles per group (due to single room availability at hotels), so please book early.

What age group does your tour target?
As long as you enjoy culture, history, art and enjoy the company of like-minded people, it doesn't matter what age you are. However, the trips are not generally suited for children.

Will you pick us up at the airport?
Our tour departs from Glasgow, so whatever time you arrive (on the first day of the journey) we will pick you up and bring you to the hotel. The airport transfer at the end of the trip is also included.

Do we need to book through a travel agent?
We are always happy to work with travel agents. You can also make your booking with us directly, just give us a call, email, fax or send a letter.

Will there be a guide available at all times?
All Poles Apart journeys have a fully qualified, blue-badge tour guide with the group at all times. The tour guide will answer any questions you may have about the history of Scotland, its culture and its people. In fact, even our bus drivers are quite knowledgeable, and indeed very helpful, so if you have any queries or problems there will be plenty of staff there to assist you at all times.

How many people will be on this tour?
Limited seating is available. No more than 25 people will be on each trip. This ensures a good one-on-one connection between the staff and the guests, and also makes it easier for the travellers to get to know each other.

What kind of coach do you use?
We use a state-of-the-art luxury coach that has enough space for 35 people. We could use a smaller bus, but we feel this gives people some space to stretch and switch seats if the scenery changes.

Can we extend our stay?
Certainly. Airfare is purposely not included in the trip to give you the freedom to arrive and leave Glasgow whenever, and in any way you wish. If you need any help or advice with setting up your extended stay, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you are looking for hotel choices before and after our journey, we recommend you visit Scotland's Heritage Hotels: A selection of Scotland's finest privately owned and run hotels each under the personal supervision of the proprietors. A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at every hotel.

What will the weather be like?
The weather is always difficult to predict in Scotland, however in the summer it tends to be very nice and can even get hot. Be sure to pack a warm jacket as even on the hottest days the weather can change quickly. Luckily, Scotland is one of the few places in the world where a bit of rain and fog only adds to its overall charm and atmosphere.

Are the departures guaranteed?
In the highly unlikely event that a tour needs to be cancelled we will let you know at least two months in advance.
